Upper Valley
Meetings
All area music teachers are invited to attend the new member meeting each fall. The membership continues to represent many communities. Monthly meetings are held at member homes and churches in each community.
The goal of UVMTA is to help each other grow and become better teachers through the sharing of information from workshops, conventions, or personal experience. Meeting discussion topics include:
- Repertoire (method series and literature, both old and new, that we have used and found to be successful)
- Studio policies (methods of record-keeping, various form letters used, etc.)
- Recital programs and ideas
- Videos from our state NDMTA Library
- Demonstrations of several levels of Rally Keyboard Testing
- Survey of college teachers' recommendations of repertoire and skills for high school students.

The Upper Valley Music Teachers Association began in January 1982 at Grafton, North Dakota with ten charter members in attendance. The first officers were: Marilynn Moe - President, Margaret Page - Vice President, Jean Otto - Secretary, and Charlene Walker - Treasurer.
UVMTA fosters professional growth through the sharing of information gained from personal experience, workshops and conferences.
UVMTA sponsors an NDMTA rally and an Honors Recital each year. UVMTA also sponsors accompanist awards, which are given to high school seniors who have done an outstanding job of accompanying at their school, church, and community.
