NDMTA offers Associate, Masters, and Professional certifications. The purpose of the NDMTA Certification Plan is to promote recognition of music teaching as a profession. The objectives of the plan are:
- To recognize teachers of the highest professional competence.
- To suggest guidelines for obtaining and maintaining professional growth.
- To create a practical plan which will insure the music teacher a professional
status equivalent to professions requiring similar academic training. - To identify to the public those teachers who are recognized by colleagues in the
musical profession as having met these standards.
