Workshop Review: "250 Years of Mozart"
Submitted by Sister Bernadette Trecker

Following a playing of Mozart's music in duet from by Lisa Anderson and Sergio Gallo, the presenter Chris Anderson talked how Mozart was a great master of Classical music and yet a forerunner of the Romantic form. With four specific examples Chris showed how Mozart broke the rules of composing in unheard ways. He showed how Mozart introduced some chromaticism for emphasis and made use of extended melisma to make theological points in his Mass in C minor. Anderson noted for us how Mozart is an "Icon" as even currently exemplified in the stain-glassed "Spring Window" in the House of Hope in St. Paul, MN.
